Identification Requirements for Voting
Effective July 1, 2020 voters must present one of the following acceptable forms of identification when voting:
- Virginia Driver’s License -Virginia law permits an expired DMV license to be used for voting purposes
- Virginia DMV issued photo identification card
- Valid United States Passport
- Valid Employee photo identification card
- Other photo identification card issued by a government agency of the Commonwealth, one of its political subdivisions, or the United States
- Student ID issued by any community college or university located in the United States
- Valid student ID issued by a public or private high school in Virginia
- Voter confirmation documents
- Voter registration notice
- A copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document containing the name and address of the voter
