James Buckner

James (Buck) Buckner was elected to Danville City Council in May 2014. Mr. Buckner is married to Jessica Bryant Buckner and has one son, Elisha Shelton. Mr. Buckner was born December 29, 1978 and raised in Danville where he operates a small business. Mr. Buckner is a 1997 graduate of George Washington High School. After graduation, he worked for Dan River Mills/Schoolfield Division, Dimon Tobacco, and is also the former owner/operator of The Temple nightclub in Downtown Danville. He later worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Danville before leaving to open Pawn Shops America in 2009.He currently works for Wilkins & Co. as a Realtor serving the Danville area.

Mr. Buckner was appointed by City Council to the Fair Housing Board for the City of Danville in 2012, where he served until he was elected to Danville City Council in 2014. He currently serves on the Transportation Advisory Board, Metropolitan Planning Organization, and the West Piedmont Planning District Commission.
