Become a City Contractor

GENERAL AND/OR LEAD CONTRACTORS ARE NEEDED IN DANVILLE

Would you like to be a contractor with the City of Danville? The Housing & Development Office is in need of general contractors for its Housing Rehabilitation Program. Jobs range in value from several thousand dollars to $60,000, with the average job around $35,000.  Jobs will be awarded on an individual basis to the lowest bidder.

In order to be added to our approved list of contractors, you must:

  • be a class A or B contractor,
  • possess a City business license,
  • provide references from three clients,
  • provide a financial/bank statement, and
  • supply a building supplier reference.

In order to bid on lead jobs, you must have EPA certification for Lead Safe Supervisor and Lead Safe Worker(s). For more information, contact Mike Beckner becknml@danvilleva.gov 

Additionally, the City makes every effort to utilize small businesses, minority and women-owned business enterprises. 

Section 3 is a provision of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968 (12 U.S.C. 1701u) regulated by the provisions of 24 CFR 75. The purpose of Section 3 is to ensure economic opportunities, most importantly employment, that are generated by projects that receive HUD financial assistance shall be directed to low- and very low-income persons, particularly those who are recipients of government assistance for housing of residents of the community in which the federal assistance is spent.
