Danville Fire Department personnel are trained to the Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) level. Recertification and refresher classes are conducted annually by the department's EMS Training Division utilizing state-certified instructors.
The Department is licensed by the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services as a Basic Life Support (BLS) Agency, and is inspected periodically by the Western Virginia EMS Council (WVEMS).
The Department responds to life-threatening calls for assistance within the City of Danville, as a non-transporting agency. It is our goal to render aid until the arrival of one of the City's ambulance agencies.
Firefighters conduct training exercise using immobilization straps purchased with grant funds received from The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region.
