Since 1992, the City of Danville has met the Virginia State mandated 25% recycling rate each year. In 2016, the City's recycling rate was 42.6%.
Curbside Recycling Service
Curbside Recycling Service became available in January 2012. City residents may sign up for curbside recycling service.
Public Works will provide a ninety-six (96) gallon recycling container for new subscribers. Recyclable materials include: plastic, mixed paper, aluminum, tin, steel, cardboard, and glass.
Effective July 1, 2016, the annual cost is $90 for bi-monthly collection service between July - June. Collection will be provided on the first and third Thursday of each month. Applications made after July 1st will be pro-rated to the end of June the following year at a cost of $3.75 per collection. (If paying with cash, please bring exact change)

A collection site is located at the Public Works Warehouse Building on 998 South Boston Road for miscellaneous electronics such as computers, small household devices, etc. (Please note: televisions are no longer recyclable.)
