Community Partnerships

In 2021, the City of Danville started working with O-I, a national company with a facility in Ringgold, to support our recycling program. Glass recycled in Danville through drop-off or curbside are taken to O-I to be cleaned, processed, and recycled into new glass products. This is part of the company's sustainability and social impact program called Glass4Good. The weight of recycled glass is converted into a dollar amount which is then donated to the Danville-Pittsylvania County United Way.

For the first year of the program, BookEnds will receive all the proceeds from the recycling program. The funds will be used to provide programs to help students read at grade level by third grade.
