Danville Fire Department Responded to a structure fire at 201 Briarwood Dr at 7:38 pm . Upon arrival crews found a single story residential structure with heavy smoke showing from all sides. The single occupant was outside and uninjured on arrival. Crews made entry into the structure to find a fire in the kitchen that had extended into the attic. Crews were able to extinguish the fire with extensive damage to the kitchen and heavy smoke damage to the remainder of the structure. Three engines, one ladder and two chief officers responded and remained on scene for approximately two and a half hours. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire appeared to be unattended cooking. The Red Cross assisted in providing shelter for the resident.
