City Council will meet on Tuesday, Oct. 15, in a business session at 7 p.m., followed by a work session. Both sessions are open to the public.
The business session will be held in the Council Chambers on the fourth floor of the Municipal Building, which is located at 427 Patton St.
The work session will be held on the same floor, but across the hall in the Council Conference Room. In work sessions, Council reviews non-routine matters that will be voted upon in future business meetings.
River City TV, the city’s government access channel, will air the business session. Watch it live on cable (Comcast channel 10 and Gamewood channel 122) or streaming on the River City TV Facebook page.
During the business session, the City Council is scheduled to vote on a resolution authorizing the Danville Transit System to offer free bus service on Election Day, which will be Tuesday, Nov. 5.
The resolution recognizes that transportation access can challenge the public’s ability to vote and participation may be improved by removing this barrier. Free bus service, if approved, would be provided for all transit operations (fixed route and reservation-based service).
Several other matters are on the agenda for the business session. Votes are scheduled on:
During the work session, City Council will review the latest financial reports, schedule a public hearing for improvements to Westmoreland Park, and listen to a presentation on capital needs by Danville Public Schools.
Also, City Council will hold a closed meeting as allowed by state law for consultation with legal counsel.
