New Voting System
The City of Danville has selected a new paper based digital optical scan voting system for its citizens to use effective June 2017. The Unisyn OpenElect Voting Optical Scan system both validates and tabulates ballots at each precinct. Voters will continue to be checked in and presented with a paper ballot and directed to a marking station. The voter will then use the pen provided and fill in the black oval to the left of their selected candidate. After making all their selections, the voter will be directed to the scanner located on the ballot bin. The voter will insert their voted ballot into the scanner where it will be recorded and deposited into the ballot bin. This replaces the touch screen voting system that was implemented in June 2005.
