Danville Public Library opened its second Little Free Library on Wednesday. The newest location, adopted by the Danville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Inc., is beside the playground in Ballou Park.
Chapter members filled the box with books of their choosing and took a few moments to pass out books to the children on the playground.
“Danville Alumnae Chapter is extremely pleased to participate in this project,” said Marilyn Gunter, chapter president. “(Little Free Libraries) certainly support one of our community service thrusts which is education.”
Little Free Libraries are units shaped like bird houses filled with books supplied by adopting agencies. The books are free to the public, who are also encouraged to add their own books to the collection.
