[ARCHIVED] Danville will hold annual Woods and Water Outdoor Show on April 6

Danville Parks and Recreation will host its annual Woods and Water Outdoor Show on Saturday, April 6, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Crossing at the Dan located at 629 Craghead St.

The event, now in its second year, drew in a crowd of around 1,500 last year and event organizer Jacob McCann said the show lineup has grown drastically this year.

“We have the 4,000 gallon bass tub coming back and we’ve added a few new exhibits and seminars,” he said.

Along with the mobile aquarium stocked with game fish, exhibits include the World’s Outstanding Whitetail display, a collection of over 20 of the largest whitetail deer ever on display, and outdoor artist Bruce Dellinger, who was left partially paralyzed after a farming accident and draws by manipulating pens and pencils with his teeth.

Seminars include Boat and Trailer Maintenance by Mobile Marine Service, Turkey Calling by Roost’em Calls, Gameplots by BioPlots and Bow Maintenance by Buggs Island Archery. Retired Army sergeant and professional angler Keith Johnson will also give hourly demonstrations on fishing techniques and tactics on the bass tub. The deer display includes seminars on antler growth.

“We are excited about this year’s show,” McCann said. “We hope everyone will come out and see the exhibits and support our vendors.”

Admission to the show is free. Vendors include hunting and fishing gear, outdoor adventures, ATVs, trucks, tractors and more.
