[ARCHIVED] Structure Fire 424 Keen Street

The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 424 Keen Street on 4-25-13 at 9:28 pm. When the first engine arrived they found fire burning from a second story window of a house. The occupants had already self evacuated and were unharmed in the blaze. Fire fighters attacked the fire and quickly brought it under control confining the fire damage to one bedroom.

Once the fire was extinguished extra measures were taken to prevent any further damage to personal items located on the first floor of the house.

The Fire Marshal's Office investigated the cause of the fire which was determined to be an electrical short in an outlet.

The Red Cross provided shelter for four family members displaced from this fire.

The total on scene time for the fire was 1 hour and 53 minutes. There were 3 engines, 1 ladder, 2 utility vehicles, 2 fire marshals, and a Battalion Chief that responded to the fire. The total amount of fire department personnel on the scene was 17. This scene was also supported by 2 Danville Police Officers, electric department, utilities, and an ambulance from Danville Life Saving Crew.
