Danville Parks and Recreation’s Centra Summer Movies in the Park Series continues at 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, at Ballou Park, with the movie “Madagascar.”
“Madagascar” is a computer-animated comedy starring the voices of Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer and Jada Pinkett Smith.
Alex the Lion (Stiller) is the king of the urban jungle as the main attraction at New York’s Central Park Zoo. He and his best friends Marty the Zebra (Rock), Melman the Giraffe (Schwimmer) and Gloria the Hippo (Pinkett Smith) have lived their entire lives in blissful captivity, with lavish meals and their own park views. Spoiled by their upbringing with no idea what wildlife is really like, they escape from the zoo, unwittingly assisted by four absconding penguins, and find themselves on the island of Madagascar. Now, they must figure out how to survive in the wild and discover the true meaning of the phrase “It’s a jungle out there.”
The Centra movie series features family movies. All films are free and will be shown on a 20-foot screen at Ballou Park Stage. In case of inclement weather, the movie will be shown at Coates Recreation on Westover Drive.
