[ARCHIVED] New library director will join city on Oct. 1

Danville Parks and Recreation announces that Joseph Zappacosta will join the Danville Public Library staff as library director. Zappacosta is expected to start Oct. 1 and will bring a wealth of experience and education to the position.

"I am grateful for being given the opportunity to become the library director of the Danville Public Library,” he said. “I am enthusiastic about making a positive contribution to the library and the community. I look forward to meeting everyone and working with the staff of the library and the Parks and Recreation Department."

Zappacosta most recently served as library director within the Halifax County – South Boston Public Library System. Prior to that designation, he was the director of Ephrata Public Library in Ephrata, Penn. In all, Zappacosta has garnered more than 10 years of experience in public libraries and education, serving in both administrative and professional capacities.

“We’re excited to have Joe join our staff,” Parks and Recreation Director Bill Sgrinia said. “We feel that he is a perfect fit for our community and will help our library continue its longstanding traditions of quality customer service and progressive innovations.”

“Joe brings a well-rounded knowledge of the inner workings of the library system and a desire to effectively serve the community’s needs.”

Zappacosta holds a master’s degree in library and information science from Drexel University and a bachelor’s degree in library science from Kutztown University.
