Posted on: September 20, 2013

[ARCHIVED] Second house fire strikes Danville today.

The Danville Fire Department was dispatched at 2:19 pm today to a house fire at 115 Mary Miles Dr. on Danville's north side. When fire units arrived on the scene heavy smoke was coming from much of the house and heavy fire was coming from the kitchen window. Fire crews entered the front door and got a quick knock down on the fire. The kitchen and dining rooms suffered heavy damage from fire and the remainder of the house had severe smoke damage. There were no injuries and the Fire Department was on the scene for about one and one half hours extinguishing the blaze and assisting the occupants. The fire was caused by grease that was accidentally splashed out of its container and ignited on the stove.

With the holidays fast-approaching, the Fire Department wishes to caution everyone about being careful when cooking and make sure you stay with a burning candle and do no leave the room where they are burning.

Released By: Dallas R. Swiney, Battalion Chief

Three engines, one ladder truck, two Command Officers and a Safety Officer along with the Fire Marshal's Office responded to the call with 18 personnel.
