The Danville Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 1769 South Boston Road on Wednesday December 18, 2013 at 3:33pm. Engines from the Airport fire station, Bridge Street fire station, and Industrial Avenue fire station along with the Ladder responding from Bridge Street fire station responded to the scene. Also responding were 2 chief officers and 2 fire marshals. Units arrived on scene to find a moderate amount of smoke coming from a side window of the house. Crews pulled a hand line to the rear of the structure and made a quick attack on the fire. The fire was found to be in a rear bedroom and closet area. The fire was quickly extinguished but the house sustained moderate smoke and water damage. Fire Marshals office determined that the fire started by children playing with a lighter. No injuries were reported. The fire department was assisted by the Danville Police Department, Danville Electric Department, and Danville Life Saving Crew. Seventeen fire personnel were on scene for a total of one hour and forty nine minutes. The Red Cross is assisting the occupants of the residence.
