On August 25, 2009 at approximately 2:41 am, the Danville Police Department received a call in reference to shots fired in the 1200 block of Wayles Street. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a male and female victim suffering from what appeared to be gun shot wounds. Both victims were transported the Danville Regional Medical Center where the female was pronounced dead on arrival. The male victim suffered from a non-life threatening injury to the hand and was later released from the hospital. The female was identified as Ashley Dawn Wilson Echols age 26 of Danville.
A grand jury later handed down indictments in connection with this case. Robert Louis Winslow age 32 of Danville was indicted for: First degree murder (VA S.C. 18.2-32), malicious wounding (VA S.C. 18.2-51), and two counts of use of a firearm during the commission of a felony (VA S.C. 18.2-53.1).
This afternoon at approximately 4:45 pm, Danville Police arrested Robert Winslow on Garland Street without incident on all charges. He was taken to the Danville City Jail where he is being held without bond.
