One of the River District’s long-standing traditions, the Farmer’s Market showcases locally grown produce, meat eggs, plants and flowers, as well as handmade gifts and baked goods.

Saturday’s season opener will include live music from Jay Shelton and Roy Norton. The first 500 customers will receive a free tomato plant.

Danville Regional Medical Center, in partnership with Danville Parks and Recreation’s Health and Wellness Check Point Team, also will be on hand to provide free wellness checks and will continue throughout the season.

Master Gardeners will also be available to provide free gardening advice every Saturday.

Other events at the Market include, Humane Society Dog Wash Days every third Saturday (proceeds to benefit Danville Area Humane Society), the Chef at the Market Series on June 21, 26 and August 23 and the Summer Bazaar set for August 23.

The Danville Farmer’s Market is open every Saturday from May–October from 7:30 a.m. to noon and is located at Danville Community Market at 629 Craghead Street, Danville, VA, 24541. SNAP/EBT cards are accepted for fresh, locally grown produce, baked goods, plants seeds and more.
