[ARCHIVED] UPDATE: City restores power service to all but 200 customers

Danville Utilities logo

Danville Utilities has restored electrical service to all but 200 of the customers served by the Westover substation. Power was restored by shifting the electrical load to other substations.

The customers remaining without power are located in the Jamerson Road area of Pittsylvania County. Those customers could be without power for another two to three hours.

A pole break knocked out two electrical feeders at 1:30 a.m. Monday. The feeders remain out of service. Customers whose electrical load has been shifted to other substations will experience a brief power outage when the load is shifted back to the Westover substation feeders.

ORIGINAL STORY POSTED AT 9:30 a.m.

A pole break has knocked out two electrical feeders, leaving about 1,100 Danville Utilities customers in the Westover area of Danville and Pittsylvania County without electrical service.

The break caused the power lines to wrap. Line crews are working to restore service. They anticipate having service restored in two to three hours.
