[ARCHIVED] Structure fire at 464 Henry Street

The Danville Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire at 464 Henry Street this afternoon at 4:01 pm. The first arriving units found a small, 1-story house with heavy smoke showing from all sides of the house. Fire was venting from two of the windows as well. Firefighters attacked the fire from inside the house while others searched the residence. The fire was controlled in less than 20 minutes. The search revealed no one was home at the time. DFD personnel remained on scene for two hours controlling hotspots in the house and determining the cause of the fire.
The fire was started by an electrical short in a bedroom. The house suffered major smoke and heat damage and heavy damage to the fire room. The structure is not livable now and the occupant will be staying with family.
The DFD responded with three engines, one ladder, and two support vehicles. A total of 17 personnel were on scene during the incident.
