[ARCHIVED] Office of Economic Development selects Teague as assistant director

Corrie Teague

Corrie Teague has been selected as the assistant director for the Danville Office of Economic Development.

As assistant director, she will oversee capital projects and assist in developing industrial park properties and recruiting new industries. She will continue to oversee River District development.

“Corrie was chosen out of more than 50 applicants during the process,” Danville Economic Development Director Telly Tucker said Thursday. “After careful consideration of credentials and work experience, the interview panel felt that she was clearly the best fit for the position.

“We are very confident that Corrie will continue to do a great job as we strive to see positive economic growth in Danville. She is very familiar with the community since she is a Danville native, and she understands the hard work that it takes to be successful in economic development.”

Her role in the development of industrial park properties will include working with engineering firms and other stakeholders. In overseeing capital projects, she will negotiate design concepts and construction contracts in cooperation with the city’s Purchasing Department, and she will visit project sites to observe the quality of work.

“I’m truly honored to have been selected for this position,” Teague said. “Working for the Danville Office of Economic Development over the past five years has been such an educational and rewarding experience. I look forward to continuing to work with city, regional and state partners as we strive to transform this region.”

Teague joined the Danville Office of Economic Development in November 2009. She served as the marketing and research manager until becoming project manager in July 2012. Prior to working in economic development, Teague worked as a senior account executive for a marketing firm in San Francisco and as an account operations specialist at Infinity Global in Danville.

Teague graduated from Danville Community College with an associate degree in business administration and from Virginia Tech with a bachelor’s degree in marketing management. She is also a graduate of the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute and the Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Southside XVII program.

She is a board member of the West Piedmont Workforce Investment Board and the River District Association Board. She is also a member of the Virginia Economic Developers Association and a fellow of the Danville Regional Foundation’s Middle Border Forward initiative.
