The City of Danville was among the recipients of two grants from the Community Foundation of the Dan River Region.
The Division of Social Services was awarded $24,000 to provide critical and emergency financial assistance via direct payment to the Danville Utilities Department for restoration and/or reconnection of home utility service for eligible and vulnerable low-income households.
In addition, the Parks and Recreation Department received $10,000 to purchase transportation service for the low income, and often disabled Danville citizens, under the age of 60 years old, to and from the Fresenius Medical Center to receive the life-saving treatment of dialysis.
The Community Foundation of the Dan River Region announced today a total of $626,000 in new grants to 51 non-profit community agencies at a reception at the Ballou Recreation Center. The Community Foundation was incorporated in 1996 and has already returned more than $17 million in community grants and scholarships.
This year’s grants contain $250,000 in funding made available by a grant from the Danville Regional Foundation.
