Tickets are on sale for the Danville Harvest Jubilee concert featuring grass-roots phenomenon Blackberry Smoke, which will bring its southern rock and roll styling to the Carrington Pavilion on Saturday, July 18.

The show will also feature special guest Halfway to Hazard.

Tickets start at $20 and are available at DanvilleHarvestJubilee.org, at the Danville Welcome Center or by calling 434-793-4636.

The band, which formed in 2000, has been hailed as “the real deal” by Atlanta Journal and “an airtight band that is far smarter and more sophisticated than casual observers may realize” by The New Orleans Times-Picayune, according to the band’s website.

The Washington Post proclaimed it “a band that can reclaim Southern Rock for the South,” while Billboard praised its “epic-sounding ballads.”

The Atlanta-based quintet’s playlist is an emotional charged mix of bluesy rock, gospel soul and country.

In addition to being produced by Brendan O’Brien, whose previous production clients have included AC/DC, Aerosmith, Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young, the band has toured throughout the USA and Europe, has had its songs featured in movie and video-game soundtracks, and has even performed for country legend George Jones (who incidentally guested on the band’s second album) on his 80th birthday.

Other notable artists who have come out as Blackberry Smoke fans include Dierks Bentley, Jamey Johnson, Grace Potter and the Zac Brown Band.

Other Danville Harvest Jubilee events this summer include Fridays at the Crossing, Covers at the Crossing and Jam on the Dan.

Fridays at the Crossing are held in the Community Market Parking lot. The next event will feature the Fantastic Shakers on Aug. 7. Gates open at 6 p.m. and tickets cost $5 at the gate.

The Covers shows are held in the Carrington Pavilion. All My Rowdy Friends – Ultimate Hank Williams Jr. Tribute show with special guest Matt Boswell and the Hillbilly Blues Band will take the stage on Saturday, June 20, while the Dave Matthews Tribute Band will perform on Saturday, Sept. 12. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. for both shows and tickets cost $7 at the gate.

Jam on the Dan will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22, at Carrington Pavilion, featuring Yarn, Josh Shilling, L Shape Lot and others to be announced.

These events are sponsored by Bud Light, City of Danville, Pepsi, Texas Steakhouse and Saloon, The Homeplace Vineyard and URW Community Federal Credit Union.
