Two Danville residents are facing murder charges following a drug overdose that occurred last year.
On 11-17-10 Danville Police responded to Danville Regional Medical Center for a report of an overdose. Kayla Lyndsee Beame, age 20 of Danville was pronounced dead by hospital staff. A criminal investigation was begun, and Beame was sent to the Medical Examiner in Roanoke for an autopsy. The autopsy report was recently completed and listed the cause of death as Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) intoxication. MDMA is a Schedule I drug and also has the street name of Ecstasy.
A grand jury recently convened and returned indictments for Distribution of MDMA and Felony Murder against Timothy (NMN) Woodard, age 29 of Danville and Eldesa (NMN) Smith, age 25 of Danville for their role in providing the Ecstasy that led to Beame's death. Both Woodard and Smith have been arrested and are currently being held in the Danville City Jail without bond.
