Yesterday evening at approximately 7:47 pm Danville Police were called to an address on Elizabeth Street for a report of two (2) tethered dogs that had been neglected. Upon arrival they discovered that a puppy was dead. The older dog was still alive but showing distress from heat along with lack of food and water. The Danville Area Humane Society was contacted, and they arrived to assist. The surviving dog was seized and carried to the shelter.
As a result of this incident charges were brought against Hope Angela Flowers, age 39 of the residence and Maurice Lashawn Holloway, age 24 of Pittsylvania County. Both were issued summonses for animal neglect, animal cruelty, and tethering an animal. In addition to these charges Flowers was also charged with having an unvaccinated and unlicensed dog.
