The Danville Police Department will be meeting at the new Peace Community Center, located at 827 Green St, previously known as the Green Street Police Precinct, today at 5:00 PM for a community walk. The purpose of this event is to begin spreading the news to the local neighborhood of the transformation from the Green Street Police Precinct to a new Danville Police Department led PEACE Youth and Teen Community Center, with plans of a grand opening on December 1, 2021. This initiative from the community engagement team and spearheaded by the Department's Community Relations Liaison, Ashtyn Foddrell has been a months long process with hopes of adding an alternative safe location for youth and teens to gather. This project is an extension of efforts to build positive relationships between the youth and teen community and the members of the local law enforcement community, while providing safe entertainment. The location will include video gaming and arcade options, skeeball, a pool table, televisions, dance space, a location for completing homework, along with planning and event programming space for the engagement team.
All media partners are invited to help get the news of this exciting new project out to the citizens of Danville. Ashtyn Foddrell will be available for interviews or questions on this initiative at the Peace Community Center at 5:00 PM.
