[ARCHIVED] House Fire at 1304 College Park Drive

Just before 1:00pm today, February 4th, 2022 the Danville Fire Department was dispatched to 1304 College Park Drive for a reported structure fire.  Upon Engine three's arrival there was no sign of fire from the street.  The engine's captain walked around the house and found fire coming from the rear.  He communicated that it was a working fire.  The neighbors on scene stated the occupant may still be inside of the house.  Ladder one arrived on scene with Hazmat two, Battalion one, Engine six, and Engine 4.  Engine three's crew pulled a hose line to the front door and made entry to the residence, while Ladder one's crew performed an interior search of the house.  The fire was extinguished and all residents were safe and accounted for outside the home.  The Danville Fire Marshal's office determined the cause to be an electrical short in a bathroom ventilation fan.

The Danville Fire Department responded with three engines, a ladder truck, a support vehicle, and a command vehicle.  There were no injuries during the incident.  The Danville Life Saving Crew assisted the DFD with rehabilitation of firefighters.  The Danville Police Department provided scene safety and traffic control.  The Danville Utilities secured the water supply and the electric department ensured the power was turned off to the residence.

The Danville Fire Department wants to remind it's citizens to always turn off all unnecessary items when away from home.

Thank you,

William Smotherman

Battalion Chief
