The Audubon Drive improvement project, which will expand the storm drainage system and add a sidewalk from Riverside Drive to Apollo Avenue, is underway. The project also includes the addition of a crosswalk with pedestrian lights on Riverside Drive.
Traffic between Riverside Drive and Apollo Avenue will be restricted periodically. The project is expected to be completed by mid-to-late summer. Virginia Carolina Paving is the prime contractor.
Utility crews in recent weeks have been installing and connecting new water and gas mains in preparation for this project.
Motorists are urged to slow down and be alert to altered traffic patterns.
