The Danville Fire Department received a call for a reported structure fire this AM at 611 Arlington Rd. The DFD responded @ 0543 with 3 Engines, 1 Ladder truck, 1 Support apparatus and 1 Command vehicle. Upon arrival, E3 (Industrial Ave.) found a split level home with heavy fire and smoke extending through the roof and venting out the gable end. DFD crews initially made entry into the interior of the home for extinguishment but was ordered out of the structure by Command due to parts of the roof starting to collapse. E2 (Piney Forest) was called to the scene for additional manpower and support. DFD remained on scene, conducting overhaul and salvage operations till 11:53 Am. There were no injuries reported, however the family dog was found deceased inside the home. The family is being assisted by the American Red Cross. The DFD was assisted on scene by: Danville PD, Danville Life Saving Crew, Danville Electric Dept., Danville Water and Gas Dept. and the American Red Cross. The DFD Fire Marshals Office is investigating the cause of the fire and will notify all parties once complete.
