The Danville Police Department created a four-member traffic enforcement unit to address problem areas throughout the City. A review of recent vehicle crash data for the 39 independent cities in Virginia revealed that Danville is ranked 12th in the state for the number of crashes per capita.
The unit will focus enforcement activities in high traffic areas, school zones, and major intersections. Areas that have generated citizen complaints of speeding, red light running and other traffic violations will also be targeted.
Motorists are reminded to drive safely, obey highway signs and posted speed limits, and to use safety belts and child restraint devices.
