Weather and conditions permitting, beginning Tuesday, April 27th,and then daily thereafter, Monday through Friday, River Street from North Main Street to Old Halifax Road will be restricted to one lane in either direction for the demolition of the Norfolk Southern Railway Bridge over River Street. The restricted lanes of this street will continue for 60 days or until the work is completed.
To ensure the safety of motorists and the work crews during the demolition process, on Tuesday night , May 4, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. the street will be completely closed to all traffic and will remain closed until 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 and again on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. on Thursday morning. River Street will be re-opened for traffic each morning for use during the day. During this period, motorists must either use alternate routes or the established detours to reach their destinations.
This work is being performed by M.R. Dishman & Sons, Inc. of Danville, VA at a cost of $47,530.00.
