[ARCHIVED] Fridays at the Crossing concert series ready for kickoff

The Danville Harvest Jubilee’s 2012 Fridays at the Crossing concert series begins this week with Dragonfly, a Lynchburg band that performs a blend of rock, country and dance hits from today and yesterday.

Gates open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $3 at the gate or may be picked up in advance at the Danville Welcome Center, which is located on River Park Drive off U.S. 29 Bypass. Children 12 and under are admitted free with an adult.

Dragonfly is a four-member band featuring Melissa Stevens as the lead vocal performer, with Jeff Routon on drums, Chris Cheatham on guitars and Eddie Wood on bass. The band plays favorites from artists such as Melissa Etheridge, Miranda Lambert and Prince to the Black Crows.

Fridays at the Crossing concerts are all held on the first Friday of May through September at the Carrington Pavilion, which is an outdoor concert venue that is part of the Crossing at the Dan complex on Craghead Street. The schedule for the remainder of the series includes JB and the Get Down Brown’s Band on June 1, Fuzzy Logic on July 6, Too Much Sylvia on Aug. 3 and The Kings on Sept. 1.

Organizers are expecting anywhere from 1,500 to 3,000 people at each concert, where there will also be beer, wine and food for sale.
