Danville, VA Police Department Media Releases

[ARCHIVED] 05-17-12 Bicycle Struck By Vehicle

At approximately 1:00 PM Police, Fire, and Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Piney Forest Road and Ash Street for a report of a Pedestrian Struck on a bicycle.

The investigation revealed a Ford Ranger truck was traveling eastbound on Ash Street and approaching Piney Forest Road. The pedestrian (Herbert Webster Logan age 83) was traveling south on Piney Forest Road and crossing Ash Street. The Ford Ranger Failed to Yield the Right of Way and struck the Pedestrian at the intersection of Piney Forest and Ash Street. The pedestrian was transported to the Danville Regional Medical Center for non-ife threatening treatment of injuries sustained from the crash. The driver of the Ford Ranger was charged with Fail to Yield the Right of Way.
