Shortly after 5:00 am Saturday an alarm came in at Sears at Piedmont Mall. Officers responded and discovered that one of the doors on the lower level east side of the store had been broken out. A perimeter was setup, and with assistance from a Police K-9 a search of the store was conducted, but no-one was located.
It was determined that the suspect forcibly entered the store by breaking the glass door and went to the jewelry counter breaking several of the cases before taking an undisclosed amount of jewelry.
Pawn businesses and citizens are asked to report any suspicious transactions involving jewelry to the Danville Police Department.
