Centra Medical Group will sponsor its Enchanted Evenings in the Park concert series Thursday, June 21, at 6:30 p.m. at Ballou Park in Danville.
Michael Thompson and Janet Phillips will perform jazz music.
Phillips is principal flautist and a board member of the Danville Symphony Orchestra. She also teaches flute at Chatham Hall.
Thompson is the first individual to earn a degree in guitar performance from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
After serving for over 10 years in Artist-in Residence programs with the North Carolina Arts Council, he worked as an entertainer aboard the Mississippi Queen Riverboat for several years before returning to North Carolina to teach, perform and record.
He also teaches at Piedmont Community College and the Kirby Gallery in Roxboro, N.C., and coordinates the “Farm-Jazz” Musicians Co-op Project.
Enchanted Evenings is a free concert event.
