[ARCHIVED] Park Avenue to close for two weeks beginning July 9 due to bridge work

Park Avenue at the intersection of Memorial Drive will be closed for about two weeks beginning Monday, July 9, for construction work related to the Robertson Bridge project.

During the closure, traffic will be detoured to Bishop Road toward West Main Street, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation and city of Danville. The Gingerbread House and the Brown Bean will be accessible from Memorial Drive.

Utilities will be installed and the grading and paving of the intersection will be completed during the closure.

This closure is necessary to install utilities and complete the grading and paving of the intersection. During this closure, traffic will be detoured onto Bishop Road and West Main Street. The Gingerbread House and the Brown Bean will be accessible via Memorial Drive.

The project has been underway since 2010 and is scheduled for completion by mid-September.
