[ARCHIVED] Danville Utilities schedules construction for intersection of Patton and Lynn streets

Beginning Monday, Aug. 20, Danville Utilities will close one traffic lane approaching the intersection of Patton Street and Lynn Street to excavate and install a manhole at the southeast corner.

The lane will be closed from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. each day for one week.

This construction will be the first of four phases that will affect vehicle and pedestrian traffic and parking in this area. The beginning date for each phase will be determined as each previous phase is complete.

In the second phase, conduit will be installed across Patton Street from the front of the James F. Ingram Courts and Justice Center (courts and jail building) to the alley behind the former Register and Bee building. A crew will excavate and install conduit halfway across Patton Street one evening, and then complete the job on the second evening.

The third phase will limit parking for one evening in the city employee lot along Lynn Street as a crew excavates and installs conduit across the lot.

In the final phase, conduit will be installed from 317 Lynn St., across Loyal Street, and then along the sidewalk on Loyal Street from Lynn Street to Craghead Street. Loyal Street from Lynn to Craghead streets will be closed one evening from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Carlis Wells, project manager for the power and light division of Danville Utilities, said the work is being carried out during the evenings and overnight in order to minimize disruption.
