[ARCHIVED] City government offices re-open following New Year’s Day holiday

The Municipal Building and all other city of Danville administrative offices will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1, in observance of the New Year’s Day holiday.

In addition, the public library and community recreation centers will be closed on New Year’s Day.
The James F. Ingram Justice Center (courthouse) will be closed on both Monday, Dec. 31, and Tuesday, Jan. 1.

Administrative offices, the library, recreation centers and the courthouse will reopen on Wednesday, Jan. 2.

Danville City Council, which meets the first and third Tuesdays of each month, will not meet on New Year’s Day. Instead, it will meet on Thursday, Jan. 3. City Council meetings begin at 7 p.m.

Danville Transit will not operate on New Year’s Day, but Danville Regional Airport will be open.

Household refuse collection and yard waste collection scheduled for New Year’s Day will be collected on Saturday, Jan. 5. Residents who regularly have Monday pickup will see no change in collections, with pickups remaining on that day as normally scheduled.

Danville Utilities workers will answer emergency calls and restore service as needed on New Year’s Day. The water and wastewater treatment plants will be staffed and operated as usual.
